SCS 8th Grade Trip to D.C.

May 10th through the 12th, the SCS 8th graders spent almost three full days on an educational tour of Washington, DC. The tour was led by our exceptional tour guide, Bob, from American Christian Tours, and students were treated to an in-depth look at the major memorials, buildings, and institutions on our nation’s capital. Though the tour was dampened by rain, that did not stop us from visiting many, many sites and learning about how our government works and about God’s providential hand in the history of the USA. From the oft-neglected back alley of Ford’s Theater, where John Wilkes Booth fled after shooting Abraham Lincoln, to the Supreme Court and National Archives, we visited more significant sites than any of us could have imagined possible in a three-day time period. Special thanks are in order to the parents of our great students for allowing them to go and for investing in a most unique educational experience that will be remembered for a life-time!
